He has produced and commissioned over 40 digital films, devised two tv series on pioneering digital filmmakers, and produced a pioneering hybrid VJ/live film performance with the Light Surgeons, which toured internationally to rave reviews. Previous books include The End of Celluloid (RotoVision), and Motion Blur (Laurence King).

Useful insights into modern concepts

The book deals with some fairly standard shooting techniques and equipment uses. Creativity being the main focal point is inspiring and compelling. At first I thought there was too much emphasis on computer graphics, as this is out of reach to most budget conscious filmmakers, but the author is graphics oriented. The links to the vids shot by the directors were very useful and only dated a couple of years, but were great examples of what's currently some of the top directors' visions. This made up for the bulk of animated video reviews which for the most part were excellent. The book is a fine insight into the minds of some of the finest young directors today.

Got a different version

I ordered this a few weeks ago with a few other books, they arrived in time.

I received a different version of the book, it has another cover and talks about other directors, not the ones on this version, amazon should be more careful about this.

The version I received is ok but I really needed the version pictured here, thats why they get 2 stars

Gearheads luxury wonderland.

My library stocks Phil Bergs other two fine books (Ultimate Garages and Ultimate Garages II). As with these other books, gearheads will not be disappointed with the amazing photography and the finest automobiles one could only dream of owning. However, I felt this latest book seemed to feature more of the palacial garages and little of the places where real work gets done. The previous books gave us a combination of the luxury garage (and luxury collections) and then the warmly lit 'working' garage - a workbench laden with tools polished with years of use, stuffed tool boxes, collections of automobilia with the sense of a lingering smell of oil. I hoped that the 3rd book would have featured some of these type of garages too - possibly because they may closely reflect that of my own (albeit not on a scale quite as grand)...

Nevertheless, the reader will not be disappointed with this beautifully bound and glossy paged book. It will accompany the coffee table (or library) of every automobile enthusiast.

Third in a series for Phil Berg.

Always interested in what Jay Leno is doing in his garage, so the update is good. The story on Bulgari's collection is fascinating and also provided me with another, outsiders, view of for American autos. Interesting book for its range of collections. Some guys have the ability have a rather indulgent collection, and others on a shoestring. I think the real story is about people and their story and particular interest. Phil's books pioneered in this area and continues to interest.

Phil Berg has a good series about garages, the place that we all spend alot of time. I have enjoyed the 2 previous books and enjoyed this one too. They are a window into fantasy land.
